The thing to do in Japan during the New Year’s holiday is to visit a shrine. The first shrine we tried had an insane line up. We went for lunch and then went to a smaller shrine which didn’t have a long line up. I forgot the name of the shrine.
Actually, I never knew the name of the shrine to forget, so, not unlike any other day really. I just stumble around.
There’s this street called Takeshita and it’s filled with more crazy which was a hoot to visit. It’s a good thing I take pictures because all of it already is starting to blur and I’m still here!
I’ve jumped a few days, because it involved more skiing, eating, and nude bathing, so I figured I didn’t need to repeat comics on that. I have photos on facebook though.
I also have photos of us volunteering as well. We road bikes to the church and that was cool! The streets are so different here and riding through them felt so other-worldly. 😀
It took some time for my legs to remember how to snowboard. The first day, I only lasted for about four hours. The second day was much better. I was able to stay the whole day! And then I rested. Because snowboarding is hard.
This is Hiroko, the mother of the nieces we have come to see. 😀 She helps organize our lives here in Japan.
I originally thought I asked for one day. But I think I changed it to two days.
